Hungarian Squeezed (Hungarian Pointing Dog)

The Hungarian survived comes from the ancient hunting dogs that were used by the Magyars in the hunt, this is a kind of Hungarian pointer. The ancestors of these pets lived on the territory of Hungary more than 1000 years ago, and the modern survived, of course, is somewhat different from its predecessors, but there are much more similarities than differences.

In fact, it’s hard to say exactly how long ago these dogs appeared on the territory of Hungary, since today experts draw conclusions only from the available evidence. One of them is an engraving of the 10th century, where a smooth-haired, long-legged, thin dog is very similar to a pogo, depicted with a huntsman. Another very noteworthy evidence is the chapter in the manuscript book on the falconry, which, together with the description, depicts a dog that is almost identical to the Hungarian surviving. Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

As you know, now in Switzerland there are four dog breeds that are considered local property. And one of the oldest and most popular is the large Swiss Mountain Dog. They resemble the Appenzeller Sennenhund breed, but still have certain differences.

Among the local population, they gained great popularity due to their strength and versatility, as well as due to endurance and intelligence.

Locals used these dogs for a variety of purposes – as guards for cattle, as guards for the house, as a Continue reading

Belgian shepherd groenendael

Groenendael belongs to the breed of dogs Belgian Shepherd, being one of four types. Belgian Shepherd Dogs also include: Tervuren, Malinois and Lakenua. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this breed was actively developed and was a great success in its homeland. Actually, the first breed standard was drawn up in 1892, and a year earlier the Club of Belgian Shepherds (Club du Chien de Berger Belge) was created in Brussels.

Now it is not known exactly when work began on the creation of this national breed, the starting point is considered to be the end of the 1800s. Under the guidance of Professor A. Rühl, a group of dog breeders studied local shepherds in Brussels and other regions of Belgium, concluding that they all have a very similar appearance, differing only in coat color.
