Afghan hound

The breed of dogs of the Afghan Hound is widely known throughout the world not only because of its amazing appearance, but also because it is one of the oldest breeds on earth. The latest DNA studies have confirmed that the Afghan Hound originated long before the birth of Christ, and therefore, its existence dates back perhaps more than 3,000 years. In the homeland of these animals, Tazi has been called since ancient times.

Now they are rarely used for hunting, but a few centuries ago everything was exactly the opposite. The Afghan Hound was an outstanding hunting dog, which even went with a leopard, another question is that, of course, several dogs were needed to fight such a predator. Also, it should be noted that dogs usually did not directly participate in the killing of a predator, since their task was to drive him and limit his movement until the arrival of the huntsman, who usually followed his helpers on horseback. Affinpincher

Today it’s hard to say how many years the Affenpincher breed has exactly counted, although official documents refer us only to the 19th century. In fact, the closest ancestors of these dogs are depicted in the paintings of Dutch artists as early as the 15th century, and this adds an additional 400 years to the official date. Dogs in the paintings have a stiff coat, beard and the same small size.

The question arises – why did the artists even depict these dogs, because they are not particularly remarkable? The answer to this question lies in the agility and character of the animals. At that time, they were mainly used for hunting rodents, especially large rats, which not even every cat could handle.

Over the following centuries, until the beginning – the middle of the 20th century, a small wire-haired pinscher with a restless and rather evil disposition was a favorite pet of every grocery store owner, owner Continue reading

Basenji

The Basenji dog breed is, in fact, a bit of a domesticated wolf. Of course, the wolf and this domesticated dog, animals are different, but very close. After all, a basenji is a wild dog that has not far gone from its ancestors, or rather brothers, wolves. Moreover, this breed was domesticated a long time ago, perhaps several thousand years ago, back in the days of ancient civilizations and the first people.

The Basenji dog breed was born and developed on the African continent, and the locals greatly appreciated, and still appreciate, these truly amazing animals. In ancient times, there were special hunters who hunted for basenji, and even now, residents of remote areas say that hunting for basenji is more complicated and valuable than hunting for a wife. Apparently, there is some truth in this.

Aborigines appreciated dogs for their excellent hunter qualities, incredible bestial flair, excellent sense of Continue reading
